If a similar blaze were to break out at Soboba’s 480,000-square-foot resort, Salmo said, the new hook-and-ladder truck would be useful because of its long ladder. Crews from several departments - including Soboba - were dispatched to the fire. The station’s opening comes days after an elevator fire at the Pechanga Resort and Casino near Temecula injured three people. The construction cost was not available Thursday, June 6, Salmo said. The station, situated half a mile down Soboba Road from the casino, is close to both the resort and the San Jacinto Valley in a reasonable time, Salmo added. “The addition will be a good complement to strengthen our valley’s fire protection,” he said.
